My opinion is that every social media site should be able to choose whether to require ID or not. If a social media site succeeds in defeating fake news and creating an interesting site for discussions, all politicians, journalists, professors etc will flock there and the site will be the winner. No need for law to in effect ban unpopular opinions, opinions the state doesn't like, and a way for a future fascist government to know everything about its people.
